Kishorilal (played by Amrish Puri) is a successful businessman settled in Los Angeles, USA. He wishes to find a suitable Indian bride for his American-educated son Rajiv (played by Apurva Agnihotri). Kishorilal's friend suggests Ganga (played by Mahima Chaudhry), a young woman from a small Indian village, as a potential match.

Ganga agrees to the arranged marriage and travels to the USA with Kishorilal's family. However, upon her arrival, she faces cultural shock and struggles to adjust to the modern lifestyle of America. Rajiv, on the other hand, is more interested in his American girlfriend, which creates tension between him and Ganga.

Enter Arjun (played by Shah Rukh Khan), a friend of Rajiv and an Indian-American musician. He becomes Ganga's support system and helps her navigate the challenges she faces. As Ganga spends more time with Arjun, they develop a close bond, and eventually, love blossoms between them.

The story unfolds as Ganga finds herself torn between her commitment to the traditional values of her homeland and her growing feelings for Arjun. Kishorilal also has to confront his own biases and reevaluate his perspective on cultural integration and relationships.

"Pardes" explores the clash between Indian traditions and Western influences, as well as the complexity of relationships across cultures. The movie highlights the importance of understanding, acceptance, and love in bridging these gaps.
